Day 1: Kigali to Akagera National Park – Boat Ride
In the morning after your breakfast, your safari driver guide will pick you up from your hotel and take you on a short tour around Kigali city to places of interest like the art and craft centers and the genocide memorial center.
After the city tour, you will drive to Akagera National Park arriving at your safari lodge in the afternoon, check in, have your lunch, and relax a bit.
Later on, your guide will drive to Lake Ihema for an afternoon boat ride. It is one of the lakes that are found in the Eastern part of the park and the largest.
Different water bird sightings as you sail on, like the African fish eagle, kingfishers, black crake, common cormorants, goliath heron, the African Jacana, egrets and more, plus hippos submerged in the water and crocodiles.
Other animals could also be seen along the shores of the lake.
Day 2: Game Drive and Departure
Pre-sunrise game drive for a chance to spot some of Akagera National Park’s nocturnal wildlife and early morning predator-prey action.
Return to the lodge, have breakfast, check out and with packed food for a picnic lunch, set out to explore more of the park.
Elephants, buffalos, zebras, giraffes, lions, hyenas, waterbucks, rhinos, leopards, oribis, mongoose are some of the animals that you will encounter as you drive through the Savannah plains of Akagera.
Have your picnic lunch and after have a short drive as you exit the park driving back to Kigali where you will be dropped back at your hotel or at the airport.
