Detailed 4-Day Akagera Wildlife & Balloon Safari Itinerary
Day 1: Airport Pick Up – Kigali
Your 4-day tour guide driver will be at the airport in Kigali waiting for your arrival.
He will welcome you to the country and then drive you to Kigali city for a check-in at your hotel for the night.
Day 2: Kigali City Tour and Boat Trip – Akagera National Park
After your breakfast at the hotel, your tour guide driver will take you on a short Kigali city tour and also brief you about your 4-day safari.
After the city tour, you will then drive to the East of Rwanda heading to Akagera National Park, drive straight to your lodge where you will have your lunch.
In the early afternoon, you will go on a boat trip on Lake Ihema located in the South of the park.
Day 3: Akagera National Park – Game Drive
After breakfast, you will embark on a game drive in the North part of Akagera National Park. Keep your cameras rolling to capture some great wildlife sightings and action.
Zebras, giraffes, lions, elephants, buffalos, leopards, waterbucks, hyenas, mongoose, and warthogs are some of the animals that inhabit the Savannah park.
Drive back to the lodge for lunch and some relaxation.
You will get to experience the traditions and culture of the Rwandans on a cultural visit to one of the communities near the park.
Embark on an early evening game drive before you retire to your lodge for dinner and overnight. Optional night drive.
Day 4: Hot Air Balloon Safari – End of Safari
On the last day of your Akagera safari, you get to experience the park and its wildlife from a whole different angle.
Wake up very early in the morning for your pre-sunrise hot air balloon safari over the savanna plains and wetlands of Akagera National Park.
You will be at the launch areas to see the hot air balloon crew set up the balloon preparing for your flight.
Take to the skies, witness the beautiful sunrise, the scenic panoramic views of the park and wildlife below.
After an hour, you will land and have a bush breakfast, enjoy more game sightings as you drive back to your lodge for check out and transfer back to Kigali.
