Fishing in Akagera – Enjoy a Peaceful Day on Rwanda’s Lakes

Fishing in Akagera National Park is one of the tourist activities available to visitors who visit the park situated in the east of Rwanda for a savannah wildlife experience.

Akagera National Park covers an area of 1,122 square kilometers, and part of this area is covered by swamps, marshes, and lakes, making the park the largest protected wetland in East and Central Africa.

The park has 10 lakes within its boundaries, and these lakes are fed by the famous Kagera River. The most visited lakes among the 10 lakes in Akagera National Park are Lake Ihema (the largest), Lake Shakani, Lake Gishanju, Lake Mihindi, and Lake Rwanyakazinga.
