The Nyungwe gate of Akagera National Park is used for exit only. It is situated at the far north end of Akagera National Park in Nyagatare district.
Visitors staying at Magashi Tented Luxury Camp are the only ones who use the North Gate for entry.
For rewarding wildlife experiences in Akagera National Park, visit the northern part of the park and go on game drives around the Northern Nyungwe Gate as this area teems with good population concentrations of animals like buffaloes, giraffes, zebras, different antelope species of Akagera, among others.
The park is open from 6:00 am to 6:00 pm.
Visitors staying outside of the park are expected to be out by 6 pm, and those staying at lodges within the park should be at their respective accommodation facilities.
