The shores are surrounded by papyrus reed beds. The lake is close to the provinces of Kabondo, Kigabi, Burangare, Kabwera, and Nyangongoro, while landmarks in the area include Kageyo, Nyampiki, Kamemeno, Lac Ngerenke, and Rwanyamiti.
