Mohana Plains comes in first place as the largest circuit in Akagera National Park, Rwanda, with a huge concentration of wildlife species such as herbivores, carnivores, and reptiles.
Are you interested in gazing at African lions who take pleasure in hunting herbivores and even fellow carnivores? Although they do not eat these other meat-eaters, they leave them on the ground to show their superiority.
Game drives are preferably used for such ventures and are considered safer compared to nature walks. The safari car will take you through the northern side, where you will spot hippos that enjoy scaring people. But keep calm, as the tour guides are always there to ensure your safety.
Do not be scared when you come across crocodiles in the same lake or on land. This is because their chances of survival are great, being able to live both in water and on land. These species are reptiles and carnivores, feeding on other wild species for survival and even said to feed on human beings.
When mentioning the variety of wild species, this includes bird species that come to find peace and food, making the area colorful and the right place for bird watchers. They can sit down on their picnic mats or chairs, gazing at the lake down the slope, which not only attracts birds but also herds of giant elephants.
Please note that a full day is needed to tour Mohana Plains, indulging in different activities such as taking photographs, bird-watching, and nature walks. There are stopovers where cars may not reach, and you may be told to step out to feel the land and view certain features clearly before driving off to another point.
At Nyungwe Gate, you can glimpse this area filled with breathtaking scenery. If you still want more adventure, you can branch off to Magashi Plains Peninsula, Nyampiki Peninsula, or Giraffe Loop for more encounters with wild species.
The best time to visit Mohana is during the dry season, from June, July, August, September, and December. The wet season, on the other hand, is always perfect for bird watchers but may be difficult for some visitors due to the muddy and slippery ground.
Mohana Plains are widely spread for you and everyone. Don’t hesitate to visit it.
